"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration,"——Nikola Tesla
Resonance Aura is a continuing project by artist collective XCEED for years, an immersive journey aims to explore through sound, light and interaction; each shifting vibration and rotating frequency forms a living constellation, to create a pulsating field where human perception meets the cosmos, revealing the infinite threads of existence.
This new edition in FutureScope draws inspiration from Hong Kong writer Xi Xi (Ellen Cheung Yin)’s work Marvels of a Floating city and the Imperial Astronomical Observatory, extends the dialogue between the city and the people, the human and the celestial. In Xi Xi’s Imperial Astronomical Observatory, she once mentioned, “The starry sky is simply the starry sky, it knows no borders.” How, then, do we comprehend the boundless – of life? Of the universe? From what source does this understand arise? In Resonance Aura, it invites audience to experience the “cosmos” together. Inside the dome, what appears as a constellation of stars in fact is a mapping of our city’s landmarks, in the form of point clouds, includes the Airport, Tsing Ma Bridge and the Peak Tower etc., watching over visitors as they step into a consciousness rooted in the city yet reaching toward the infinite. While every single audience moves in the space, in real-time their locations will be scanned in the system and generate dynamic sound and visual patterns. Seven kinetic sculptures with wheels turn within the space, symbolizing the seven human chakras, and through sound frequencies aligned with these energy sources, the installation invites a healing resonance – a meditative flow that cleanses body and spirit, and so audience can be all immersed in this mandala-like movement of sound and visual, drift through a sensory field that vibrates with renewal.
As written in Xi Xi’s Imperial Astronomical Observatory, “Life passes swiftly, what is there to fear?” Resonance Aura offers a moment of stillness amidst motion, a breathing space for reflection, courage and calmness. Between the finite and the infinite, may we learn to face impermanence not with fear, but with grace and wonder.
